Want a high-spec mobile fleet, without the high price tag?

… Time to think outside of the box.

If you’re looking for a high-end mobile phone, you can’t ignore smartphone giants Apple and Samsung, who for years have designed and manufactured first-class products that enable users around the world to experience sleek design, speedy operating systems and HD camera quality.

There is no denying however that much of this success is thanks to global marketing campaigns and huge advertising budgets, as well as extensive device ecosystems, including wearables, home audio, TV, and personal computing which help maintain both Apple and Samsung as trusted brands of choice.

Itop-end devices from either of these providers are over-specced for your requirements, or simply are not within your small businesss budget, we have other options for you. Within the mobile market, there are a number of lesser-known companies that, despite lacking the marketing power of Apple and Samsung, have much to offer at an affordable price point – perfect for businesses looking to update their mobility fleet with new handsets.

Our recommendations to customers considering an alternative handset option include:

Nokia have experienced an incredible resurgence in recent years. Thanks to their new partnership with Finnish based HMD Global, they have established themselves globally as one of the top 10 smartphone manufacturers, and number 1 for feature phones 1.

The Nokia 5.3 is the latest mid-range device from Nokia and is a strong contender to Samsung’s A10, A20e & A40 handsets, as well as the recently launched Apple iPhone SE. This handset’s impressive specifications include:

  • 6.55’ IPS LCD screen
  • Rear Quad-Camera setup
  • 4000mAh battery
  • Gorilla Glass 3 screen
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset
  • Octa-core processor
  • 64GB expandable internal storage
  • Android 10 out of the box

Priced under £200, and finished to a premium standard, Nokia have created a device perfectly suited for large company deployment. To further enable this, all Nokia handsets run Android One, which guarantees no additional manufacturer ‘bloatware’ whilst also enabling zero-touch enrolment – a powerful tool for any organisation considering replacing a large number of staff handsets.

TCL are a China-based manufacturer, new to the UK market. Recognised more as a producer of TV and Audio equipment, you might not know that TCL are the manufacturers behind existing Alcatel, Palm and BlackBerry mobile hardware.

The TCL 10 Lite is powered by Android 10 out of the box, and runs Android One, reducing the additional manufacturer added apps that are often not needed. Approved by Android Zero touch, this is another handset that would be well suited to a deployment that includes mobile device management. This handset’s impressive specifications include:

  • 6.53’ FHD display
  • Rear Quad-Camera setup
  • 4000mAh battery
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset
  • Octa-Core processor
  • 64GB expandable internal storage
  • Android 10 out of the box
  • 6GB of RAM

Priced at around £250, the TCL 10 Lite (like the Nokia 5.3) sits comfortably as a mid-range device. The main differences between these two devices are that the TCL Lite does boast 6GB of RAM which is 2 more than the Nokia 5.3, but it lacks the Gorilla Glass 3 protection that the Nokia offers. When compared with some of the leading manufacturers, there are clear savings to be made for companies looking to deploy a large number of devices at a lower cost.

Manufactured by TCL, Alcatel’s portfolio consists of smartphones and feature phones, tablets, and mobile broadband products such as Mi-Fi units and data dongles. The brand is proud to offer value for money and the Alcatel 3L reflects this ethos perfectly.

The Alcatel 3L houses a powerful core, Snapdragon chipset and a long-lasting battery. Its dual rear camera with AI and AR technology produces high-quality photos, whilst its HD+ Super Full View Display delivers you a screen perfect for viewing, streaming and navigating. This handset’s impressive specifications include:

  • 6.22” IPS LCD screen
  • Rear Quad-Camera setup, boasting a 48MP primary lens
  • 4000mAh battery
  • MediaTek Helio P22 chipset
  • Octa-Core processor
  • 64GB expandable internal storage
  • Hybrid dual SIM
  • Android 10 out of the box

Available from around £150, the Alcatel 3L offers an impressive range of features. Despite its budget price tag, the 3L’s build quality and features are certainly not compromised, and the phone stands up well against both the Nokia and TCL devices.
